Shands Live Oak volunteer services has 18 auxilians who have
contributed more than 12,000 hours of service to the hospital. These volunteers help
out in different areas of the hospital and in the Live Oak community.
- Scholarships -
Shands Live Oak Auxiliary gives out five scholarships each year to nursing students
pursing an LPN degree from Suwannee-Hamilton Area Vocational-Technical Center.
- Community outreach - Each year, the auxilians spend 400 hours
doing community outreach, including visiting homes, taking homebound people to the
doctor, reading to kids in schools, and helping out at health fairs. The auxiliary also
hosts an Easter egg hunt each year.
