Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center continues to invest in the greater Live Oak community with the addition of Dr. Daniel Messcher. A board certified Family Practitioner, Dr. Messcher will be joining the Shands Live Oak team and opening a family practice on January 16th next door to the hospital at 1116 SW 11th St. The phone number will be (386) 362-0820.
Dr. Messcher is pleased to once again be part of the Live Oak Community. He relates, “Having worked here before, I really couldn’t wait to get back and see friends and former patients. Not only do I feel accepted here, but my entire family loves the area, the schools, and the small town feel.” A native of Boston, MA, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University and attended Medical School at the University of Massachusetts, graduating in 1996. He then served his residency in one of the top programs in the nation at the Eastern New Mexico Family Practice Residency before settling in Valdosta, GA. Here he assumed the position of Administrative and Medical Director of the Student Health Center at Valdosta State University in 2003. His move to Live Oak and partnership with Shands Live Oak provides an outstanding opportunity for families to receive top notch primary care.
“Dr. Messcher shares our vision of providing first class primary care to the area” notes Ricardo Diaz, CEO of Shands Live Oak. “This provides our community with an option to avoid the long trip to Lake City of Gainesville for high quality primary care. Moreover, having maintained a presence in Live Oak since 1999, we are extremely pleased he is committed to our community. His excitement to be a doctor for the Suwannee Valley combined with his well-known dedication to patients will be a tremendous asset.”
Dr. Messcher’s practice will be available to the public on Monday, January 16, and walk-ins will be welcome. “We are incredibly excited about opening to the public” states Dr. Messcher. “We are in an ideal location next to Shands Live Oak, a hospital that shares my vision for building up health care services in this community. It has always been my goal to raise my children in a family friendly area where I can use my skills to make a difference. Live Oak is that community, and Shands Live Oak Medical Center has been an indispensable partner in helping me achieve that goal. I look forward to serving all who may be in need of primary care.”
